ROCK SUPERSTARS HEART HIT THE ROAD WITH JOURNEY FOR SUMMER 2008 TOUR Legendary Band Continues Its Creative Vitality as They Record New Studio Album This Year Ann & Nancy Wilson Appear on "Idol Gives Back" TV Special April 9 (Los Angeles) With over 30 million albums sold and such hit singles as "Crazy on You," "Magic Man," "Barracuda," "Straight On" "Dog & Butterfly," "Never," "These Dreams," "Nothin' At All" and "Alone," the band Heart, led by Ann and Nancy Wilson, is one of the most successful and beloved acts in rock music history. First emerging in 1976 with their debut album Dreamboat Annie, the group eschews resting on their legendary stature and remains an active and artistically potent unit. Senate approves April 1 as ‘Cheap Trick Day’ Oct 11, 2007 @ 05:11 PM RRSTAR.COM STAFF REPORTS SPRINGFIELD - Sen. Dave Syverson donned shades Wednesday when he urged a Senate committee to help proclaim April 1 “Cheap Trick Day.” “I had to look more like Rick Nielsen,” Syverson, R-Rockford, joked just before his colleagues voted 9-0 to approve a resolution setting aside the day for Rockford’s own all-star band. Nielsen, the Cheap Trick guitarist who still calls Rockford home, is known for his trademark ball cap and dark sunglasses. Not so much with Syverson: Other senators joked that they didn’t recognize him. Nielsen picked April 1 for the band’s day because it also is April Fools’ Day. “April Fools’ Day just hit it right,” Nielsen said in June when he visited the Capitol. “If people believe it, we’re on April 1. If they don’t believe it, we’re on April Fools’ Day.”

RICH’S BROILED/BAKED CLAMS

You will need: Razor clams, cleaned. (the fresher the better)

Eggs, beaten (however many you need for your egg wash).

Ritz Crackers, regular kind (not the low-fat or low-sodium varieties), crushed. Enough to coat the clams.

Butter, melted. (margarine works)

Preparation: Turn your oven broiler on to high. It needs to be HOT.

1. Dip the cleaned clams in the egg wash.

2. Coat well with crushed Ritz crackers.

3. Lay the clams out, single layer, on a greased baking sheet. (lining the sheet with foil first makes easier clean up)

4. Drizzle the clams with melted butter, more or less to taste. (without it you’ll get dry clams)

Cooking: 1. Put the pan on the top oven rack under the HOT broiler.

2. Broil 3 minutes. Turn over. Broil 3 more minutes, and they’re
done. Avoid over-cooking or the clams get rubbery.

The key is a HOT broiler or oven. You can do this in a HOT (500-degree) oven, without having to turn the clams over, but I’m not sure of the time. I prefer the broiler, thankyou.

Done right, the clams are fork tender. And with no grease or oil spatter and mess from a frying pan, you’ll probably never want to fry a clam again!
